Role
Specialist Mental Health PractitionerWhy I Work at CAMHS
I like the energy and ideas I get from working with children and young people, and appreciate hearing people’s stories and strengths in coming through difficult situations. My Skills and Interests
I trained as an occupational therapist first, and then moved to work in CAMHS because I enjoyed working with young people. I always found that with children and young people sometimes talking can feel tricky, and that art, play and creative activities can be a good way to show things that are hard to put into words – so I trained as a play therapist and use play in individual work with children but also with children and parents/carers together.
At the moment I am doing some extra training in Systemic Family Practice, which is working with families to help strengthen family relationships, using family sessions to listen to each other’s views and understand each other’s experiences.
A Bit About Me
I really like reading and could happily read all day. I would love to be able to sing really well but settle for singing along really badly.
